My Mom's Mother's Day Card

I just realized that I never posted the card that I made my mom for Mother's Day.  I used one of my favorite stamp sets from the Summer Mini on her card...Flower Fest (p. 20).  I love the texture that these flowers have.  They are pretty colored in and not colored in as shown with this card.

It's hard to tell in the picture, but the butterfly was heat embossed with the new Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi emboss powders from the Summer Mini (p. 23).  The heat embossing really makes the butterfly pop.  I did have to cut the butterfly body out by hand, but the butterfly wings were punched out with the Butterfly Punch (p. 202).  After I embossed it, I colored it in with Daffodil ink using a Sponge Dauber (p. 195).

The border on the bottom of the Melon Mambo piece was made with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (p. 6 in the Summer Mini).  I only let half of the flowers show, and then added the rhinestones from the Basic Rhinestone Jewels Pack (p. 188) to each one.  I'll be using this punch to make borders a lot!

Love & Care Card

Before I get to the card, I want to let those of you that have been in the path of these horrible tornadoes know that you are all in my prayers.  I pray that God will give you strength to get through the hardships you're going through, and that you'll feel his arms wrapped around you.

Now, to today's card.  I used two different challenges going on this week for this card.  I used the color challenge at SCS, CC324, and the card sketch at Mojo Monday, MOJO192.  I REALLY like this color combo!  The colors are so pretty together.  I really like this sketch as well.  I think the added scalloped circle and tag really make the card look special.

I used the Rock & Roll technique on the larger flowers, and used markers on the smaller ones.  There was no green in the color combo, but I think Soft Suede works for the stems just fine.  The stamp set that I used is a new Level 2 hostess set in the Summer Mini called Love & Care (p. 5).  I earned it free for signing up a new demonstrator during SAB.  I love being a demo!  It's such a beautiful set.  I usually sell my hostess sets after they retire, but I plan on keeping this one.  I just can't give it up!  I wrapped a 2" piece of Victoria Crochet Trim (p. 190) around the small tag, and then attached it to the larger Baja Breeze one.  I then added the Perfect Plum flower brad from the Subtles Flower Brad Pack (p. 187).  The tag is attached with Stampin' Dimensionals (p. 197).  As you can see, I added some texture to the card by dry embossing the plum layer with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder (p. 214).  I love how this folder makes cards look so elegant!

My Hubby's Anniversary Card

My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary a couple weeks ago, and this is the card that I made him.  He really liked it a lot.  I have to admit, I'm happy with the way it turned out, too.

There are so many wonderful masculine sets in the new Summer Mini, and this is one of them.  It's actually just one stamp, and it's called Sail Away (p. 11 in the Summer Mini).  I also used the designer paper that coordinates so well with it.  It's called Nautical Expedition (p. 8 in the Summer Mini).  These products sure make it easier to create masculine projects.  I LOVE them! 

One more item from the mini that I used is the Cherry Cobbler/White Baker's Twine (p. 10 in the Summer Mini).  I wrapped it a couple times around the middle strip that I made, and then tied it into a double knot.  I then held the loose ends together and tied three slip knots to keep them together.  I thought that it gave the twine a nautical look.

If you look closely, you can see that the sails have a little white on them.  I colored them in with a Blender Pen (p. 195) and Whisper White Craft ink.  After cleaning the ink off the Blender Pen, I brushed it over the rest of the sails to smudge the Not Quite Navy lines of the image.  This helped darken the sails up a little bit.

Thinking of You

I just love the On the Grow set (p. 14 in the Summer Mini).  You can get very different looking projects made with the two main images in the set.  I used an old Mojo Monday sketch with this one, too.  You can see the sketch HERE.   This sketch enables you to use two different ribbons if you like.  I used the new Cherry Cobbler/White Baker's Twine (p. 10 in the Summer Mini) on the top, and Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon (p. 190) on the bottom.  The Tangerine Tango border across the middle was made with the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch (p. 6 in the Summer Mini).  I also popped up the greeting and the flower image with Stampin' Dimensionals (p. 197)

My First Touch of Kindness Card

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I'm so sorry that I haven't posted for awhile.  I've got projects to show you, but I just haven't had time to post.  Today's card is a card that I made for a swap I was in.  I joined the swap group through our Stampin' Up! demonstrator community, Stampin' Connection.  Stampin' Up! gives demonstrators so many ways to get project ideas!  It's great!

The stamp set is a new one from the Summer Mini called, Touch of Kindness (p. 25).  I love the little birds in the bird bath.  They're so cute.  I got the color combo from new designer series paper (DSP) in the Summer Mini, Beyond the Garden (p 23).  I get a lot of my color combos from Stampin' Up!'s wonderful DSP!  The scallop square around the main image was made with the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die (p. 24 in the Summer Mini).  I used the largest square on the die.  It's a really nice size for a card.

I stamped the sunflower images across the Melon Mambo bottom of the card with Melon Mambo ink.  I stamped the middle one first, and then the two on each side.  I also stamped another sunflower onto Tangerine Tango card stock with Tangerine Tango ink and punched it out with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (p. 200).  I stamped a greeting from the same stamp set onto Daffodil Delight card stock with Melon Mambo ink, punched it out with a 1-1/4" Circle Punch (p. 202), and attached it to the orange sunflower.  I then attached it to the middle sunflower on the card with Stampin' Dimensionals (p. 197).
