My First Easel Card

I've been wanting to make an easel card for awhile now, and I finally got to make one! I just had to use my Greeting Card Kids (p. 36) set, too. I love this set! I love how each stamp in the set works with different times of the year...School Days, Halloween, Christmas, & Valentine's Day. Not only that, but the kids in the set are so darn cute!

Above is the inside of the card. When making an easel card, you have to have a second layer on the bottom of the inside of the card for the "easel" part to lean up against. I made the poinsettia flower with the 5-Petal Flower XL Punch (p. 200). I punched two from Cherry Cobbler card stock, and one from Old Olive card stock. I attached the two red ones first, only putting adhesive on the center of the top flower. This made me be able to fold the flowers up for dimension. I then attached them to the green one, making sure the green "leaves" showed through the gaps between the red petals. I then attached 5 large and 4 medium-sized pearls from the Basic Pearls Jewels (p. 188) pack to the flower center.

Above is a picture of the card closed. When it's closed, it's the same size as a regular card, so it fits in Stampin' Up!'s Medium Envelopes (p. 171).

Above is the side view of the card. The base of the card is a piece of 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock. I scored the long side at 5-1/2" and 8-1/4". After scoring, fold the card in half, and then fold the other score line the opposite direction. With the 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" part on the bottom, lay it down on your table. The small flap should be on top. Add Sticky Strip onto the top flap, and then attach the card front (4-1/4" x 5-1/2") to it by lining the top of the card front with the top of the flap. Looking at the picture above, the folded flap is on the back of the top half of the card front. As you can see, the card front stands up by leaning against the second layer on the bottom of the inside of the card as stated earlier.

I also want to show you a close-up of the little girl. I wanted the snow and the fur of her coat and hat to sparkle, so I painted Frost White Shimmer Paint (p. 195) with a make-up applicator. It's so shimmery in person!

Sunflower Card

I finally got to stamp yesterday. I've been catching up on my computer work, and I also did some creating on my computer. As you can see, I made a Fall layout for my blog with My Digital Studio (TM) (p. 181). I really had fun with it, and I'm happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it, too!

I CASEd today's card from Connie Babbert. My card is pretty much the same as hers. I just changed the colors a little bit (very little), and made the leaves with the Leaves #2 Originals Die (p. 213) instead of the Wide Oval punch. I also dry embossed them with the Wallpaper Impressions folder (p. 214) instead of using designer paper. The sunflower was made with the Flower, Daisies #2 Bigz die (p. 207). I die-cut 2 each of the two larger daisies in the die. I sponged the sunflower layers with Peach Parfait ink. I thought I had picked up the Pumpkin Pie ink pad, but picked up Peach Parfait instead. I'm glad I did. I think Pumpkin Pie would have been a little too dark with the Certainly Celery card base. The center of the sunflower was made with the 1-3/4" Circle XL Punch (p. 202), and then dry embossed with the Perfect Polka Dot Impressions folder (p. 214). The border at the bottom of the card was made with the Curly Label XL Punch (p. 202).

Last Christmas Stamp-A-Stack Card

Here is the last card design for my Christmas Card SAS next week. This card is a classic card template that I really like. It's one of my turn-to card designs. I like making just about all cards, but I really like ones that are fast and easy to make and look great! This is probably the quickest card to make of all 5 designs. It wouldn't take long at all to get your Christmas cards finished if you used this design.

The Old Olive strip across the middle was punched out with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (p. 200). I stamped the greeting from the Seasonal Sentiments (p. 15 of the Holiday Mini) set on the bottom of the Very Vanilla piece first. The ornament was stamped and then punched out with the Ornament XL Punch (p. 202). I stamped the ornament string from the Tree Trimmings (p. 44) set before attaching the ornament with Stampin' Dimensionals.
